¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Information Institute (I.I.I.) has experts available to conduct interviews on the insurance ramifications of the deadly tornadoes that swept through Mississippi on Saturday, April 24.

Wind damage from tornadoes is covered under standard homeowners and business insurance policies. Damage to cars from wind is covered under the comprehensive portion of an auto insurance policy; it is an optional coverage.

(NWS) storm survey teams found at least a 97-mile-long tornado path from Tallulah, Louisiana to Durant, Mississippi, with its aftermath being blamed for fatalities and property damage in Alabama, as well. The NWS also estimated that the tornado path was up to 1.75 miles wide, at times, covering an unusually large amount of land. In addition, initial estimates show that tornado wind speeds reached up to 170 miles per hour, equal to a four out of five, with five being the highest rating on the , a benchmark for tornado severity based on wind speed.
